Vasodip-Combo 20

Vasodip-Combo 20 is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication containing the calcium channel blocker lercanidipine hydrochloride (10 mg) and the ACE inhibitor enalapril maleate (20 mg). Lercanidipine is a dihydropyridine that blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells, causing peripheral vasodilation and reducing systemic vascular resistance. Enalapril, a prodrug of enalaprilat, inhibits the angiotensin-converting enzyme, thereby reducing the production of angiotensin II and aldosterone, which further lowers blood pressure. This combination is indicated for essential hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by enalapril monotherapy. Meir Medical Center sponsored a Phase 4 clinical trial (NCT01211314) to evaluate the drug's efficacy and safety using 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
