Overview
VasoPET is a carbon-11 labeled radiopharmaceutical designed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent. It specifically targets the vasopressin V1A receptor (V1AR), a G protein-coupled receptor involved in social behavior, stress response, and various neuropsychiatric conditions. Developed primarily for clinical research and diagnostic purposes, VasoPET allows for the non-invasive quantification of V1AR density and distribution in the human brain. By binding selectively to the V1AR, it serves as a tool to investigate the pathophysiology of disorders such as autism, intermittent explosive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as to evaluate the target engagement of novel V1AR antagonists in drug development.
