Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vasopressin is a peptide hormone used to increase blood pressure in patients with vasodilatory shock who are resistant to fluid and catecholamine therapy. It is also used to manage anti-diuretic hormone deficiency, such as in diabetes insipidus, by reducing urine flow through its action on renal V2 receptors. Additionally, vasopressin causes vasoconstriction via V1 receptors, which helps in increasing systemic vascular resistance and mean arterial blood pressure.
