Overview

Vasostenoon is an alprostadil-based (prostaglandin E1) vasodilator developed and manufactured by the Estonian pharmaceutical company AS Kevelt. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of stage III and IV critical limb ischemia (Fontaine classification) in patients where revascularization procedures are not indicated, as well as for severe Raynaud's syndrome with ischemic lesions. As a synthetic analogue of naturally occurring prostaglandin E1, Vasostenoon acts as an agonist at various prostaglandin E receptors, leading to the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle fibers (vasodilation), inhibition of platelet aggregation, and improvement of blood rheological properties and microcirculation. It is formulated as a concentrate for solution for infusion.
