Drug intelligence / Profile preview
vax-MEN-ACW135 is a trivalent polysaccharide vaccine developed by the Finlay Vaccine Institute for the prevention of meningococcal disease. It is designed to provide protection against *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, and W135. The vaccine works by introducing purified capsular polysaccharides from these specific serogroups, which act as antigens to stimulate the host's immune system to produce protective bactericidal antibodies. It is primarily indicated for active immunization in individuals at risk of infection by these serogroups and is currently approved for use in regions where these serogroups are prevalent.
