Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VAX-PG is a novel therapeutic vaccine candidate developed by Vaxcyte targeting the keystone pathogen responsible for periodontitis, a highly prevalent oral disease. The vaccine leverages a cell-free protein synthesis platform to produce high-fidelity protein antigens that closely mimic those of native pathogens, enabling the development of “tough-to-make” antigens. Its primary goal is to slow or stop the progression of periodontal disease by stimulating an immune response against key bacterial drivers of periodontitis. As of June 2025, it remains in preclinical development[1][2][3].
