VaxemHIB is a monovalent conjugate vaccine indicated for active immunization against diseases caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib) in infants and children. It is composed of the purified capsular polysaccharide, polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate (PRP), derived from *Haemophilus influenzae* type b, which is covalently linked to CRM197, a non-toxic mutant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation process converts the polysaccharide from a T-cell-independent antigen to a T-cell-dependent antigen, significantly enhancing its immunogenicity in young children and inducing long-term immunological memory. Originally developed by Novartis Vaccines, the product became part of the GSK portfolio following the acquisition of Novartis's vaccine division.
