**Vaxfectin** is a proprietary cationic liposomal vaccine adjuvant originally developed by Vical. It is an approximately equimolar lipid formulation of the cationic lipid GAP-DMORIE and the neutral helper lipid DPyPE, supplied as a liposome suspension for admixture with plasmid DNA or protein-based vaccine antigens. Vaxfectin enhances antigen-specific humoral and cellular immune responses, including antibody production and T-cell responses, through innate immune activation that is reported to depend on type I interferon signaling through the interferon-alpha/beta receptor pathway. It has been evaluated as an adjuvant in investigational DNA and protein vaccine programs, including H5N1 influenza, dengue, and HSV-2 vaccines.
