Overview

Vaxiflu-4 is a quadrivalent (tetravalent) inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine developed by Zydus Lifesciences (formerly Zydus Cadila). It is designed to provide protection against four seasonal influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). The vaccine works by introducing inactivated (killed) viral antigens into the body, which stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against the surface hemagglutinin of the targeted strains. Approved by India's DCGI and CDSCO, it was the first tetravalent inactivated influenza vaccine launched by an Indian pharmaceutical company. It is indicated for the prevention of seasonal influenza in individuals aged 6 months and older and is administered via intramuscular injection.
