Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Vaxigrip** is a Sanofi seasonal, egg-derived, trivalent **inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine** for prophylaxis of influenza in adults and children from 6 months of age. It presents hemagglutinin antigens from two influenza A strains and one influenza B strain selected for the applicable annual influenza season, inducing strain-specific humoral immune responses and protective anti-influenza antibodies. It is administered principally by intramuscular injection and may also be given subcutaneously. Vaxigrip formulations and contained strains are updated by season and market; it is distinct from the separately named quadrivalent product Vaxigrip Tetra.
