Overview

Vaxigrip Junior is a trivalent inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine (IIV3) developed by Sanofi Pasteur, specifically formulated for pediatric use in children aged 6 to 35 months. The vaccine contains inactivated antigens from three influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and one influenza B lineage. It induces active immunization by stimulating the production of neutralizing antibodies against the viral hemagglutinin of the included strains. A significant Phase 3 randomized controlled trial conducted by the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) between 2010 and 2014 evaluated the efficacy of Vaxigrip Junior in reducing the burden of pneumonia and laboratory-confirmed influenza in children aged 6-23 months in an urban tropical setting.
