Overview

Vaxigrip Tetra is a quadrivalent, split-virion, inactivated influenza vaccine developed and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur. It contains purified hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) antigens from four influenza virus strains—two influenza A strains (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B strains (Victoria and Yamagata lineages)—as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). The vaccine is produced using embryonated chicken eggs and is indicated for active immunization against influenza in individuals aged 6 months and older. In the context of research conducted by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (the PAIR study), it is being used to investigate the impact of maternal arsenic exposure and micronutrient deficiencies on immune responses to vaccination in pregnant women and their newborns in Bangladesh.
