Overview

VaxigripTetra (also known as the Shenzhen Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine) is a quadrivalent inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine developed and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur at their facility in Shenzhen, China. It is designed to provide active immunization against four influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata), following annual World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. As a split-virion vaccine, the viral particles are chemically disrupted and inactivated to eliminate pathogenicity while retaining the immunogenicity of the hemagglutinin (HA) surface proteins. The vaccine is primarily indicated for the prevention of influenza disease in individuals aged 6 months and older and is specifically tailored for the Chinese market.
