VaxiPatch is a vaccine delivery platform developed by Verndari Inc. that utilizes an intradermal microarray patch (MAP) for pain-free, single-dose immunization. The device consists of a proprietary array of stainless steel microneedles with "pockets" at the tips where vaccine antigens and adjuvants are deposited in a "sugar glass" matrix. Upon application to the skin, typically on the arm or wrist for approximately five minutes, the matrix dissolves in response to skin moisture, delivering the vaccine directly into the dermis. This method targets the high concentration of immune cells in the skin, potentially providing enhanced efficacy and dose-sparing compared to traditional intramuscular injections. A key advantage of the VaxiPatch platform is its thermostability, which eliminates the need for cold chain refrigeration, facilitating easier global distribution. The technology is designed for high-volume automated manufacturing and has been evaluated in preclinical studies for influenza and COVID-19.
