VaxiTet is an adsorbed tetanus toxoid vaccine developed and manufactured by Incepta Vaccine Ltd. in Bangladesh. It is a biologic product consisting of purified tetanus toxin produced by the bacterium *Clostridium tetani*, which is detoxified with formaldehyde and adsorbed onto aluminum phosphate. The vaccine is indicated for active immunization against tetanus in infants, children aged 7 years and older, and adults. It is also used for the prevention of neonatal tetanus through the immunization of women of childbearing age. VaxiTet works by inducing the production of specific antitoxin antibodies that neutralize the biological activity of the tetanus toxin. It is supplied as a turbid, whitish-gray suspension for intramuscular injection and contains thiomersal as a preservative.
