Overview

Vaxitet-IG is an equine-derived tetanus antitoxin developed and marketed by Incepta Vaccines (a division of Incepta Pharmaceuticals) in Bangladesh. It is a biologic product composed of antitoxic globulins obtained from the serum of horses hyperimmunized against tetanus toxin. As a form of passive immunotherapy, Vaxitet-IG provides immediate but temporary immunity by specifically neutralizing the neurotoxin produced by *Clostridium tetani*, preventing it from binding to nerve endings. The product is primarily indicated for post-exposure prophylaxis in individuals with tetanus-prone wounds who have incomplete or uncertain active immunization histories, and it is also utilized in the therapeutic management of clinical tetanus.
