VAXXITEK HVT + IBD + H5 is a trivalent recombinant vector vaccine developed for poultry, providing protection against three major avian diseases: Marek’s disease, Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD), and highly pathogenic avian influenza caused by the H5 subtype. The vaccine uses a live recombinant herpesvirus of turkeys (HVT) as a vector to express two protective antigens: the VP2 protein from Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV) and the hemagglutinin (HA) gene from the avian influenza virus subtype H5. The HA gene is designed using COBRA technology to provide broad cross-clade protection against multiple circulating strains of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus. Administered at hatcheries either in ovo or to day-old chicks, this single-shot vaccine induces early immunity and helps avoid gaps between waning maternal antibodies and active immune response. It also functions as a DIVA (Differentiating Infected from Vaccinated Animals) vaccine, enabling effective disease surveillance during outbreaks[1][4][6][7].
