Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**VAXXITEK HVT + IBD + ND** is a live recombinant veterinary vaccine for poultry, utilizing a herpesvirus of turkeys (HVT) vector platform to express protective antigens from infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV VP2 gene) and Newcastle disease virus (NDV fusion gene from genotype VII velogenic strains). Developed by Boehringer Ingelheim, it provides 3-in-1 protection against Marek’s disease (MD), infectious bursal disease (IBD), and Newcastle disease (ND) via a single in ovo or subcutaneous administration in day-old chicks or 18-19-day embryos, offering early onset (e.g., 4-5 days for MD, 2 weeks for IBD) and long-duration immunity throughout susceptible periods, with safety comparable to standard HVT vaccines and added bacteriostatic (penicillin, streptomycin) and fungistatic (amphotericin B) agents.[1][2][5]
