Overview

VB119 is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets CD19, a B-cell surface receptor found on autoantibody-secreting cells. It is designed to deplete CD19-expressing B-cells through enhanced antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and potent binding to its target. By depleting these B-cells, VB119 aims to reduce the production of pathogenic autoantibodies implicated in autoimmune kidney diseases such as primary membranous nephropathy (PMN), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), and lipoid nephrosis. The drug has demonstrated rapid and durable peripheral B-cell depletion in clinical trials and has shown potential for reducing proteinuria and anti-PLA2R autoantibody levels in patients with PMN. Originally developed by ValenzaBio, further development was undertaken by ACELYRIN after acquisition of ValenzaBio[2][3][4][5][6].
