Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VB4-P5 is a preclinical-stage small molecule anti-fibrotic therapeutic originally developed by Vectus Biosystems and acquired by XORTX Therapeutics in late 2025. The compound is a novel chemical entity designed to inhibit and potentially reverse kidney fibrosis, a key driver of disease progression in both rare and prevalent chronic kidney diseases. VB4-P5 is being positioned for the treatment of conditions such as chronic kidney disease (CKD), autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), and lupus nephritis. The acquisition of this pre-IND asset allows XORTX to diversify its pipeline beyond purine metabolism inhibitors, adding a new mechanism of action to address unmet needs in renal health.
