Overview

vB_EcoM-A7 is a lytic bacteriophage (specifically a Myoviridae coliphage) that targets and lyses susceptible *Escherichia coli* isolates, including drug-resistant strains. It is utilized as a therapeutic adjunct matched to specific patient bacterial isolates via computational platforms, such as the one developed by Precise Health. The phage functions by binding to specific receptors on the surface of *E. coli*, injecting its double-stranded DNA, replicating within the host, and ultimately lysing the bacterial cell to release progeny virions. This lytic action helps to reduce the bacterial load and can work synergistically with antibiotics to overcome resistance.
