Drug intelligence / Profile preview
vB_KpP_AttikonH4 is a lytic bacteriophage belonging to the *Drulisvirus* genus (Podoviridae family) that specifically targets multidrug-resistant (MDR) and carbapenem-resistant *Klebsiella pneumoniae* (CRKP) isolates. It was isolated from influent wastewater samples collected from Athens' central wastewater plant in Psyttaleia by researchers at the Attikon University Hospital in Greece. The phage has been evaluated in preclinical studies, including in vitro combination testing with antibiotics (such as amikacin, meropenem, colistin, and ceftazidime/avibactam) showing phage-antibiotic synergy, and in vivo pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) dose-fractionation studies using murine neutropenic thigh and lung infection models.
