Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VBD00009 is an investigational human metapneumovirus (hMPV) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine candidate being developed by Sanofi Pasteur for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease caused by hMPV and/or RSV in adults aged 60 years and older. It consists of mRNA encoding viral antigens encapsulated in a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation to enable cellular uptake and in situ expression of the encoded proteins, thereby eliciting neutralizing antibody and cellular immune responses directed against both hMPV and RSV.[3][5][6] The vaccine is administered as a single intramuscular injection in ongoing phase 1 clinical studies evaluating its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity across different dose levels and formulations.[3]
