VBI-160 is a proprietary phospholipid nanoparticle-based fluid developed for the treatment of severe hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation from clinical death. It is a reformulated version of VBI-1, specifically designed with a lower concentration of egg lecithin to prevent the impairment of coagulation (prolonged bleeding time) observed with the original formulation. VBI-160 is intended to inhibit ischemia-reperfusion injury and facilitate the rapid recovery of motor and cognitive functions following extreme blood loss. Preclinical studies in rat models have demonstrated that VBI-160 significantly improves hemostasis compared to VBI-1 while maintaining its therapeutic efficacy.
