VBI-2501 is a bivalent, virus-like particle (VLP)-based vaccine candidate developed by VBI Vaccines for the prevention of Zika virus infection. The vaccine consists of a modified E glycoprotein (found on the surface of the Zika virus) and NS1 glycoprotein (secreted by infected cells), both presented in an enveloped VLP format to stimulate robust immune responses. Its mechanism of action is immunostimulation, aiming to induce protective antibody and T-cell responses against Zika virus[1][2].
