Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VBI-2902 is a monovalent COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by VBI Vaccines. It is based on an enveloped virus-like particle (eVLP) platform and expresses a modified prefusion form of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The vaccine is formulated with an aluminum phosphate adjuvant and delivered via intramuscular injection. Preclinical and clinical studies have shown that VBI-2902 induces strong and durable neutralizing antibody responses, with titers exceeding those found in convalescent sera, as well as robust T cell responses. The vaccine has demonstrated broad reactivity against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants in animal models and was well-tolerated in human trials without significant safety signals[1][3][4][5][6][7]. Developed in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada, it has been evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for the prevention of COVID-19.
