Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VBI-2905 is a monovalent prophylactic vaccine candidate developed by VBI Vaccines for the prevention of COVID-19. It utilizes an enveloped virus-like particle (eVLP) platform and expresses the pre-fusion form of the spike protein from the SARS-CoV-2 Beta variant (B.1.351/501Y.V2). The vaccine is designed to induce robust neutralizing antibody responses against both ancestral and variant strains of SARS-CoV-2, including Beta and Delta. Clinical studies have evaluated its use as a two-dose primary series in unvaccinated individuals and as a single-dose booster in those previously immunized with mRNA vaccines[1][3][4][6]. Preclinical and early clinical data indicate that it can boost and broaden immune responses against multiple variants of concern[1][6].
