Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VCAP-102 is a bioengineered adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid, specifically an AAV9 variant, developed using an RNA-guided TRACER AAV capsid evolution platform. It is designed to overcome the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and achieve significantly increased brain tropism following intravenous administration. VCAP-102 mediates its central nervous system (CNS) gene delivery by directly binding to alkaline phosphatase (ALPL), a highly conserved brain vascular receptor, which initiates receptor-mediated transcytosis across the BBB.
