VCB-1201 is an investigational Chimeric Antigen Receptor - Marrow Infiltrating Lymphocyte (CAR-MIL) cell therapy being developed by Vaxcell Bio for the treatment of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. Unlike conventional CAR-T therapies that utilize T cells derived from peripheral blood, VCB-1201 utilizes Marrow Infiltrating Lymphocytes (MILs) harvested from the bone marrow. MILs are naturally enriched for central memory T cells and possess a broad repertoire of endogenous T-cell receptors (TCRs) capable of recognizing multiple tumor-associated antigens. By genetically engineering these MILs to express a Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR), VCB-1201 aims to combine the specific, high-affinity targeting of CAR technology with the polyclonality and long-term persistence of bone marrow-derived memory T cells. The therapy is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
