Overview

VDJ-001 is a novel recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R), acting as an antagonist. It is considered a "biobetter" of tocilizumab with higher affinity and improved biological activity. Developed by Beijing Weidejie Biotechnology (VDJBio), VDJ-001 is being investigated primarily for the treatment of moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis and idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD). Clinical studies have demonstrated that VDJ-001 is safe and well-tolerated at doses up to 8 mg/kg intravenously, with most adverse events being mild or moderate. In phase II trials for iMCD and rheumatoid arthritis, it showed high response rates and favorable safety profiles compared to existing therapies[1][2][4][5][6][8].
