Overview

**VDM-001** is a patented synthetic opioid antagonist (U.S. Patent No. 9,650,338B1) invented by Dr. Vardan Martirosyan and developed by VDM Biochemicals for opioid overdose reversal as a potential alternative to naloxone. Preclinical animal studies demonstrated substantial opioid antagonistic activity in vitro and in vivo, with approximately three times greater affinity for opioid receptors, potentially enabling superior reversal of fentanyl overdoses that often require multiple naloxone doses; it also showed safety and benefits like alleviating blood pressure loss in septic shock and reducing cravings in substance use disorders including alcohol use disorder. Unlike naloxone derived from natural sources, VDM-001's 100% synthetic nature supports shorter, less costly manufacturing to mitigate shortages; BioCorRx signed a 2018 LOI to partner on further non-clinical studies and commercialization, with right of first refusal for up to 49% ownership.[1][3][4][7][10]
