Overview

VE-3771 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Verseon. It acts as a non-nucleotide inhibitor of CD73 (ecto-5′-nucleotidase, NT5E), an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of extracellular AMP to adenosine. Adenosine in the tumor microenvironment suppresses immune cell activity and allows cancer cells to evade immune detection. By inhibiting CD73, VE-3771 aims to restore or enhance anti-tumor immune responses in cancers that overexpress CD73. This mechanism is fundamentally distinct from other nucleotide-based inhibitors currently in development and targets solid tumors whose presence is masked from the immune system by high levels of CD73 expression[1][2][4].
