Overview

VE-4666 is an investigational oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor (PKI) developed by Verseon. It is currently in preclinical development primarily for the treatment of hereditary angioedema (HAE), a rare genetic disease characterized by recurrent swelling attacks. The drug is designed to block the activity of plasma kallikrein, thereby reducing bradykinin levels and preventing swelling in HAE. Unlike many existing HAE treatments that require infusion or injection, VE-4666 is being developed as an oral pill for more convenient prophylactic treatment. Verseon is also exploring the potential of this compound for other conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, heart disease, various inflammatory conditions, and certain cancers.
