Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VE202 is an investigational, orally administered **live biotherapeutic product** developed by Vedanta Biosciences for mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis. It is a rationally defined consortium of 16 nonpathogenic, nontoxigenic Clostridia strains selected to restore microbiome functions associated with intestinal immune tolerance, regulatory T-cell induction, production of beneficial immunoregulatory metabolites, conversion of primary to secondary bile acids, and epithelial-barrier support. In the randomized Phase 2 COLLECTiVE202 trial, VE202 did not achieve its Week 8 endoscopic-response primary endpoint versus placebo, although it was generally well tolerated without treatment-related serious adverse events.
