Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**VE303** is an investigational, orally administered live biotherapeutic product from Vedanta Biosciences for prevention of recurrent *Clostridioides difficile* infection. It is a standardized, defined consortium of eight purified clonal strains of live commensal bacteria, manufactured from clonal cell banks rather than donor stool. The consortium is designed to restore colonization resistance after antibiotic-associated microbiome disruption by competing with *C. difficile* for growth substrates and producing secondary bile acids and short-chain fatty acids that suppress pathogen expansion and support gut-barrier and anti-inflammatory functions. VE303 is being evaluated in the pivotal Phase 3 RESTORATiVE303 trial. ([vedantabio.com](https://www.vedantabio.com/pipeline-programs/ve303/))
