This multi-drug approach targets cancer cells through different mechanisms, potentially creating synergistic effects that enhance overall efficacy. ## Clinical Applications VEC + cisplatin is primarily used in the treatment of: - Bladder cancer[2] - Potentially other carcinomas where cisplatin combinations have shown efficacy Cisplatin is known to have synergistic effects with many other drugs, including vinorelbine, gemcitabine, and etoposide, making it a valuable component in combination chemotherapy regimens[1]. ## Administration The drugs in this combination are typically administered intravenously. Patients may receive treatment through: - A central line - A PICC line - A portacath - A cannula inserted into a vein in the arm[6] Treatment is usually given in cycles, with specific dosing schedules determined by the patient's condition, cancer type, and response to treatment. ## Side Effects As with most chemotherapy combinations, VEC + cisplatin can cause various side effects.
