Overview

Vectorized insulin is a gene therapy candidate being developed by Kriya Therapeutics for the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes. The therapy utilizes a viral vector to deliver the genetic sequence for human insulin, enabling the endogenous production and secretion of mature, functional insulin within the patient's body. This approach aims to provide a more physiological and sustained insulin delivery compared to traditional exogenous injections. Kriya is developing specialized cell-based potency assays to characterize the activity of the vectorized insulin in human serum, specifically measuring the activation of the insulin receptor B (INSRb) and subsequent phosphorylation of the insulin signaling pathway (pIR and pIRS) to ensure therapeutic efficacy and safety.
