Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VECTORVAC RISPENS is a live attenuated viral vaccine developed by FARVET for the prevention of Marek's Disease in poultry. The vaccine utilizes the CVI988 (Rispens) strain of the Marek's Disease Virus (MDV), which is a serotype 1 herpesvirus. It is considered the gold-standard strain for providing high-level protection against very virulent strains of MDV. The mechanism of action involves the establishment of a persistent, non-pathogenic infection in the host, which induces a robust cell-mediated immune response that prevents the formation of visceral and neural lymphomas. The vaccine is typically administered to day-old chicks via subcutaneous injection or to 18-day-old embryos via in ovo vaccination.
