Overview
VedAryo is a biosimilar humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody developed by AryoGen Pharmed. It contains the active substance vedolizumab and is produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells using recombinant DNA technology. The drug selectively targets the α4β7 integrin on the surface of circulating lymphocytes, preventing their interaction with mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1). By blocking this gut-specific homing mechanism, VedAryo reduces the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the gastrointestinal mucosa, thereby alleviating symptoms of ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and chronic pouchitis. As a biosimilar to Entyvio, it offers a targeted biologic therapy for patients with moderate-to-severe inflammatory bowel disease.
