VEE Replicon Particle Trivalent Filovirus Vaccine is an investigational prophylactic filovirus vaccine based on a Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE) virus replicon particle platform encoding glycoprotein antigens from three filoviruses, developed to induce protective humoral and cellular immunity against lethal Ebola and related infections. The non-replicating VEE replicon particles deliver self-amplifying RNA into host cells, driving high-level transient expression of filovirus glycoproteins that elicit neutralizing antibodies and protective immune responses, as shown in nonhuman primate models with VEE replicon particle vaccines targeting Sudan virus and Ebola virus glycoproteins.[3] Paragon’s VEE replicon trivalent filovirus program has been supported under a US Department of Defense contract to develop and test a trivalent vaccine formulation targeting multiple filoviruses as a medical countermeasure for high-consequence viral hemorrhagic fevers.[8]
