VEGF-A peptide vaccine (Immunovo) is a therapeutic cancer vaccine designed to elicit a targeted immune response against Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A (VEGF-A). Developed by Immunovo in collaboration with Pepscan Therapeutics, the vaccine utilizes Pepscan's proprietary CLIPS (Chemical Linkage of Peptides onto Scaffolds) technology to create conformationally constrained peptides that mimic the natural structure of VEGF-A epitopes. By inducing the patient's own immune system to produce high-affinity neutralizing antibodies against VEGF-A, the vaccine aims to inhibit tumor angiogenesis, thereby restricting the blood supply necessary for tumor growth and metastasis. This approach offers a potentially long-lasting alternative to passive immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies like bevacizumab. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of solid tumors, with a focus on colorectal cancer.
