Overview

The VEGFR1 peptide vaccine is a synthetic therapeutic cancer vaccine designed to induce an immune response against tumor cells expressing vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (VEGFR1). It consists of short peptides derived from the VEGFR1 protein, often restricted to HLA-A*2402 for optimal presentation to cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). Upon administration, the vaccine stimulates CTLs that specifically target and kill tumor cells expressing VEGFR1, thereby inhibiting tumor angiogenesis and growth. The approach is being investigated primarily in solid tumors such as glioma and gastric cancer. Early-phase clinical trials have demonstrated safety, immunogenicity (induction of specific CTL responses), and preliminary evidence of disease stabilization in some patients[2][4][5][6].
