Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VEGI-192 is a preclinical-stage small molecule therapeutic developed by Matrix Biomed for the treatment of solid tumors and macular degeneration. The compound is designed to act as an inducer of Vascular Endothelial Growth Inhibitor (VEGI), also known as TNFSF15. VEGI is an endogenous cytokine and a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family that naturally inhibits angiogenesis and endothelial cell proliferation. By upregulating the expression of VEGI, VEGI-192 aims to suppress pathological neovascularization, which is a key driver of tumor progression and vision loss in conditions such as wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
