It serves as the inactive control (vehicle) for a generic version of butenafine hydrochloride 1% cream. In clinical studies for interdigital tinea pedis, such as NCT01141023, Vehicle B is used to establish the efficacy of the active antifungal ingredient by providing a comparative baseline that accounts for any effects of the cream base itself. It contains the same inactive ingredients as the test antifungal cream but lacks the active pharmaceutical ingredient, butenafine hydrochloride.
