Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The vehicle ointment is the inactive placebo control used by OnQuality Pharmaceuticals in clinical studies, most notably the NOVA-II Phase 2 trial. It is a topical formulation that serves as the comparator for OQL011, a nitroglycerin-based ointment being developed for the treatment of Hand-Foot Skin Reaction (HFSR). HFSR is a common side effect of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor (VEGFR) inhibitors used in cancer therapy. The vehicle ointment contains the same base ingredients as the active drug but lacks the active nitroglycerin component, allowing researchers to isolate the therapeutic effects of the active ingredient from the effects of the ointment base and the trial's psychological or procedural factors.
