Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**VEL-091604** is a topical herbal cream developed by BSI Beauty Science Intelligence for atopic dermatitis. It is a heterogeneous botanical composition containing extracts of gentian root (*Gentiana lutea*), licorice root (*Glycyrrhiza uralensis*), and willow bark (*Salix daphnoides*). In a randomized UV-erythema study, the cream reduced inflammation versus placebo and showed activity comparable with 1% hydrocortisone acetate; a small open-label proof-of-concept study in atopic dermatitis reported rapid improvement in lesional SCORAD over two weeks without recorded adverse events. Its precise molecular targets and active phytochemical constituents responsible for the clinical anti-inflammatory effect have not been established.
