Overview

DA-8010 (velufenacin) is a novel, potent, and selective muscarinic M3 receptor antagonist developed for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB). It exhibits high binding affinity and antagonistic activity at the human muscarinic M3 receptor, with significant selectivity for bladder tissue over salivary gland and other tissues. This selectivity suggests a reduced risk of common antimuscarinic side effects such as dry mouth and central nervous system adverse events. Preclinical studies demonstrated that DA-8010 increases bladder capacity and decreases involuntary contractions by inhibiting acetylcholine-mediated detrusor muscle contraction during the storage phase. Clinical trials have shown favorable safety profiles up to certain doses. The drug is being developed by Dong-A ST[1][4][5][6].
