VEN 308

VEN 308 is a topical formulation of phenylephrine being developed by Ventrus Biosciences as a novel treatment for fecal incontinence, particularly in patients with conditions such as ileal pouch-anal anastomosis–associated soiling and seepage. As an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, phenylephrine increases internal anal sphincter tone, thereby improving continence by enhancing resting anal pressure and reducing leakage. VEN 308 is positioned as a locally acting, perianal/rectal therapy intended to provide symptom relief with minimal systemic exposure compared with oral or injectable adrenergic agents.
