Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VEN100 is an orally administered, recombinant human lactoferrin‑based product developed by Ventria Bioscience to prevent or reduce antibiotic‑associated diarrhea (AAD) in high‑risk patients. In a randomized, placebo‑controlled phase 2 trial, VEN100 reduced the incidence of antibiotic‑associated diarrhea by roughly 50% in hospitalized patients at elevated risk for AAD, supporting a role in maintaining gut mucosal integrity and modulating the intestinal microbiome and immune response during systemic antibiotic therapy. The product is derived from recombinant technology in a plant‑based system and is being positioned as a supportive care therapy around antibiotic use rather than as an antibiotic itself.[2][14]
