Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VenaSilk is a topical venotonic formulation developed by Laboratoire Innotech International for the symptomatic relief of chronic venous disease. The product is a cream-gel containing 2% diosmin, a bioflavonoid, and menthol. Diosmin is traditionally used in oral forms for its venotonic, vasculoprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties, which are mediated through the inhibition of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), thereby prolonging the vasoconstrictive effect of norepinephrine on the vein wall. In this topical application, VenaSilk is designed to provide local venoprotective effects and protect the skin from factors contributing to venous insufficiency. The inclusion of menthol provides an immediate cooling sensation to alleviate symptoms such as leg heaviness and fatigue. The formulation is designed for twice-daily application and absorbs quickly without leaving a sticky residue.
